Our faculty was decided by the Council of Ministers on 25.10.2010 upon the writings of the Ministry of National Education dated 19.01.2010 and numbered 871.899, according to the additional Article 30 of the Law dated 28.03.1983 and numbered 2809, and was published in the Official Gazette dated 15.11.2010 and numbered 27760 with the decision number 2010/1072 and was established under the Rectorate of Zonguldak Karaelmas University.
The proposal of the Rectorate of Zonguldak Karaelmas University to open departments and departments within the Faculty of Communication was examined at the Higher Education Executive Board Meeting dated 11.04.2012 and in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880, it was deemed appropriate to open three departments and twelve departments within the faculty, namely Journalism, Public Relations and Publicity, Radio, Cinema and Television Department.
In our faculty, Journalism and Radio, Cinema and Television departments were closed in the 2018-2019 academic year, and the Public Relations and Publicity department became active by accepting 52 students in the 2019-2020 academic year and started its activities in Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Farabi Campus.
With the letter dated 31.12.2019 and numbered 18657, a proposal was made to open the Department of New Media and Communication - Department of New Media and Journalism and the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema - Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. It was examined at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting dated 15.01.2020 and deemed appropriate in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880.
There are 5 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors, 6 Research Assistants, 4 Research Assistants and 2 Lecturers in the Faculty of Communication staff. Our Public Relations and Publicity department, which reached 100% occupancy rate in the first year of its academic activity, has four departments: Interpersonal Communication, Advertising and Publicity, Research Methods and Public Relations.

Public Relations and Publicity Department
The Department of Public Relations and Publicity has four departments: Interpersonal Communication, Advertising and Publicity, Research Methods and Public Relations. The Department of Public Relations and Publicity aims to educate its students with the awareness of the power of public relations, advertising and communication management in all areas of life, always thinking creatively and solution-oriented, making good use of developing information and communication technologies, and bringing them to the communication sector as experts in their field.
New Media and Communication Department
Mass media, which are constantly developing in parallel with technological changes and transformations, have taken their place among the indispensables of daily life with their new forms. These new forms, especially through social media networks, have brought about radical changes in the classical media understanding. In today's societies, which have taken on a new face with technological developments, media content, media structures and even media workers are expected to keep pace with these changes. Therefore, the effort to transform the media into a structure compatible with the 21st century digital society also mobilises the Faculties of Communication, which aim to train equipped manpower for the communication sector. In this context, the Department of New Media and Communication aims to train students and new media professionals who are equipped with knowledge in the field, adhere to professional ethics, think critically and independently.

The Department of Radio, Cinema and Television consists of four departments: Radio-Television, Cinema, Communication Sciences and Graphic Arts and Photography. The Department of Radio Cinema and Television aims to train qualified and creative staff for the radio-television broadcasting and cinema sector, which is one of the cornerstones of mass communication from past to present, with the professional responsibility and expertise it provides to its students.
